Early birthday dinner at Black & Blue. I have been to this restaurant multiple times and I always left pleased and happily full. The service is always wonderful, we were seated and served right away.
We started off with the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio (waygu beef with horseradish cream, truffle & charred onion aioli, garlic & herb loaf). It was my first time having wagyu beef and it really does melt in your mouth! Eating it with a slice of the loaf was perfect.
The Mac & Cheese sticks with truffled cheese sauce. I ALWAYS get this as a side when I come to Black & Blue. The deep fried mac & cheese stick with the truffled cheese sauce is heavenly. I highly recommend this!
For entree I decided on the 12oz New York Strip, medium rare. At first I though it was medium well done because that was labeled on the stick that was stabbed onto the steak.
But once I sliced it open, it was perfectly medium rare! Yum, it was cooked perfectly but I wished there was a bit more seasoning on it. They also gave me BBQ sauce on the side but I didn’t use it because steak on it’s own tastes the best.
I also had a refreshing lemonade with my steak.
For dessert we got the 20 Layer chocolate Cake, with amarena cherries, chantilly crème. HOLY COW, was this cake huge… it was a really generous portion. It was a rich chocolate cake, there wasn’t 20 layers (yes, I counted…) but was half close. This could feed from 2-4 people.
This was an early Birthday dinner, so we received their Black+Blue Butter Cake, on the house. So sweet of them! I enjoyed this cake more than the 20 Layer Chocolate Cake. The chantilly crème added a nice flavor to the cake and I liked how the cake was slightly crispy on the sides.
This is a restaurant that I enjoy coming back to because service is always friendly and the food never disappoints!
