15 Ice-Cream Places to Try for this Summer!

I SCREAM FOR ALL THESE ICE CREAMS !!!

It’s going to be a hot summer! So what better way to cool off then with some delicious ice-cream?

Before we let ourselves get overheated, let’s go through 15 ice-cream places to try out in town! This is in no particular order, because any ice cream is good ice cream 🙂 .

1. Timothy’s Frozen Yogurt

Timothy’s Frozen Yogurt is by Steveston fisherman wharf, so you can get fresh frozen yogurt + fresh fish = killing 2 birds with 1 stone! Their frozen yogurt is made to order. If frozen yogurt isn’t your thing, they also have a variety of gelatos too. What makes this place amazing is their fresh homemade waffle cones, you can smell the waffles when you’re nearby. But it is cash only!

2. La Casa Gelato

La Casa is a well-known gelato store that has been opened for decades. It is an ice cream HEAVEN because they have 238 flavors in store at all times! Meaning it’s harder to decide on a flavor with so many delicious and crazy options. Try sampling the curry or wasabi gelato, if you get the chance. 😉

3. Tangram Creamery

Tangram is the only ice cream place with cookie cones! The cookie cones almost put waffle cones to a shame.

720 Sweets offers the most Instagram worthy ice cream. Why? Because their soft serves are served with dry ice, giving it a cool effect that your ice cream is smoking!

5. I-ce Queen

I-ce Queen offers ice cream in a different form, a rolled up way. The ice cream are pan-fried ice cream. It is mashed, rolled and served right in front of you. It’s entertaining to watch the server make the ice cream rolls.

6. Rooster’s Ice Cream Bar

Rooster’s is a hidden gem, with creamy good gelato! They also offer ice cream sandwiches in donuts?! But they do sell out, so drop by early.

7. Rain or Shine Ice Cream

Malted Milk Chocolate (IT’S AMAZING)

Rain or Shine uses fresh, natural and whole ingredients for their ice cream. Making it a somewhat healthy treat. PS, on Tuesdays, it is Taco Tuesday! The taco waffle shell is filled with scoops of ice cream, toppings and drizzles.

8. Earnest Ice Cream

Earnest is a classic ice cream store to check out. They have good ice cream and it’s proven by the line ups that are out the doors in summer!

9. Mister

Double Chocolate and Creme Brule

Price $$

Mister presents a different way of creating ice cream. They use liquid nitrogen to quickly freeze their ice cream from scratch. During the process of your ice cream being made you get to watch the nitrogen smoke up the whole room, making it a pretty cool experience. Adelle loves this place too!

10. Bella Gelataria

 

 

Price $$

Bella Gelataria is pretty famous for their gelatos, so it’s always a must to head downtown during summer. But the lines generally do get really long during summer, especially with all the tourist knowing this is the place to go to beat the heat waves.

11. Pop Bar

Green Tea Gelato w/ chocolate & toppings

Price $$

Pop Bar takes gelato in a more friendly way, in a Popsicle form. They also offer sorbets if you aren’t into dairy. What makes it more fun is being able to add toppings and drizzles to your gelato bars to make it uniquely yours.

12. Magicream

Red Velvet with cheesecake bits and mochis

Price $$

Magicream uses nitrogen liquid to create their fresh ice cream. Each ice cream is customized to your liking with the toppings and base. The nitrogen liquid turns the ice cream into a dense, silky, smooth texture.

* But sadly this place had been burnt down, hopefully they will open up again by next summer 😦 *

13. Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionery

Glenburn offers an old school, vintage look when you walk into the store. They have killer soda floats, ice cream sundaes and candies from the 90s!

14. Soft Peaks

Soft Peaks uses Avalon organic milk in their soft serves. If you don’t know what to get, I would recommend the Honey Comb Peak. It’s an organic milk soft serve topped with a piece of local honeycomb, making it a natural sweet delight.

15. Amato Gelato

Mango guava & Viagra sorbet

Amato Gelato offers the more traditional Italian gelato. They are located near Science World and Fraser River, so it’s nice to walk down and enjoy your ice cream.
